Butter and Shortbread

We just had an excellent meeting involving a presentation on butter, and a tasting using shortbread as the carrier. Marshall and Wes from Darigold were on hand to tell us about their process, and what makes it so different from most of the American butter industry.

Marshall was also so kind as to send me a copy of the presentation to be posted on our website. The file is a little big (about 20 mb), but I think worth taking a look at. It's also in PowerPoint format, but if you don't have that installed on your computer, you can download OpenOffice.org (for free) to look at it.

Chocolate Extravaganza

(Note: This is an unofficial announcement, and is not affiliated in any way with the Utah Bakers Dozen)

The Utah Chocolate Show may be over, but the Chocolate Extravaganza is on the horizon. What is the Chocolate Extravaganza, you may ask? Well first of all, it's kind of like a carnival. An indoor carnival, with kids in mind. But more importantly, it's a fundraiser for the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit. You can read more about it here.

Star Quayle contacted me recently via the Utah Bakers Dozen website in search of vendors for this year's event. I promised her I would post an announcement for her, along with her information packets. If you can't find what you're looking for there, then at least you will find contact information that you can use to find out more.

Gingerbread House Festival

I didn't know about this until I stumbled across it this morning. There will be a Gingerbread House Festival this weekend at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. It's too late to submit a house, but at least you can go see the houses that were entered.
